A Squeaky Clean Deal: Sophomore Class Car Wash

by Oliver Maul- Eagle News staff

With the winter season coming in and fall coming to an end, cars can easily get dirty, but no worries because the sophomore SCA is holding a fundraiser at Ultimate Shine Car Wash in Rocky Mount. This fundraiser lasts from the 1st of November, 2023 to the 31st of January, 2024, and 30% of the cost of each wash goes to the sophomore class.

It turns out this isn't the usual car wash fundraiser where students armed with buckets and hoses scrub down cars by hand. Instead the Sophomore SCA set up the fundraiser by reaching out to Ultimate Shine who offers fundraising options for nonprofits. Sophomore Class sponsor Brandon Custer explained the process. “First, we had to fill out a fundraiser form that must be sent to the Franklin County School Board office to be approved. Next, we had to reach out to Ultimate Shine Car Wash for them to set up our fundraiser for us. Finally, we advertised to spread the word of our fundraiser."

Customers purchase their car wash using a special code and a portion of each sale goes to the sophomore class. There are 4 types of washes that can be purchased at Ultimate Shine. At $10 you can get a basic wash and dry. $16 is a basic wash with tire shine, rain repellent, triple foam, hot wax and shine, and bug removal. $20 is wash and wax with ultimate fusion, undercarriage rinse, and buff & dry. $25 is an ultimate shine with ultimate ceramix.

To purchase, simply use fundraiser code 3076 at Ultimate Car Wash.“Our code is available at all Ultimate Shine car washes. The nearest to the high school is right behind Wendys!” Sophomore class officer Avery Brander added. Customers can select any wash and any additional services they like. Then before paying, they hit the orange “enter fundraiser code” button on the keypad and enter code. After entering this code they can pay with cash or card and enjoy a clean car and the knowledge that 30% of all proceeds go to the sophomore SCA and sophomore class. Sadly, this code does not work if you use a FastPass.

Fundraisers like these help raise money for the sophomore class. “It goes to the Class of 2026 account where it will transfer with them to help pay for Prom next year,” says class co-sponsor Jordan Lowe. The Sophomore Class hopes many will take advantage of this opportunity to get their car off to a clean start in the new year for a good cause.
